What is teledermatology and does it have a place in the management of psoriasis?

In this interview, van de Kerkhof outlines the drivers for the development of telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic and provides context for why this was vital to facilitate treatment when face-to-face consultations were difficult. Van de Kerkhof weighs the benefits and drawbacks of the use of photos and video conferencing, with a focus on privacy, and equipment and internet accessibility as barriers. Van de Kerkhof also looks at where telemedicine can be successfully implemented, noting scenarios where face-to-face consultation is still required to effectively treat a patient. This interview concludes with a look at the future applications of telemedicine, considering its use in conjunction with typical consultations and the patient experience.
